The 12 Resources I’d Recommend to Any Aspiring Facilitator

12 resources that helped me go from facilitating my first workshop to building a consulting business 👇
It's International Facilitation Week, so I thought I'd share what's actually made a difference in my line of work!

Re- The books pictured...
You'll notice they're not all "facilitation" books.

Some are about the business side.

Others, like Jonah Berger's work on social psychology, don't get talked about enough in our world, but understanding what influences how people behave in groups? 11/10 recommend.

The Story Cookbook (you can see all my sticky notes) curated by Dr Cathryn Lloyd and Andrew Rixon PhD SFHEA FCHSM is one of my favourites for eliciting stories from people.

The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker is obviously mandatory on a list like this and changed how I think about purpose.

And yes, I snuck my own book in there, The 2-Hour Workshop Blueprint

(There's also a ton of great books I could recommend that sit on my Kindle but we'll save that for another post).

Beyond the books:

-> Workshops Work podcast by Myriam Hadnes (now called Unprofessionalism) has a brilliant back catalogue
-> A Facilitator's Journey podcast by Kirsty Lewis covers the business side
-> The First Time Facilitator podcast (mine!) has 250+ episodes tracking the journey from newbie to business owner
-> The Flipchart Facebook group (I have a community of over 2,500+ facilitators sharing resources, activities and engagement ideas)

📌 And keep an eye out for Jan Keck's upcoming book "Ice Melters"

Tell me! What would you add?
