10 Minutes of Sleep and Questioning Everything

I had about 10mins of sleep last night. And I’m feeling extremely ordinary.

Given, that was in a secure environment, in clean clothes and bedding, with fresh facilities at The Gabba…. I’m feeling super average and I have a day of work ahead.

Thank goodness I can dash home for a hot shower.

Can you imagine what it would be like to sleep like this every single night, and try to be a functioning member of society?

Impossible.

Being part of the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout this year has really challenged my perspective on homelessness. In that, a series of minor events can lead someone down to living off the streets… to the difficulty it is to get support/into accommodation, and how very quickly, you become judged, avoided, neglected by society.

I only took a small part last night but I want to thank you for your support, raising over $6100 individually and collectively our team, THE GOATS, raised over $1mill.

Now, time to knock back some coffee and face the day.

Thank you to Cherie Canning for encouraging my involvement, you are a total passionate legend, and I admire your dedication to the cause. Cheers to Steve Hodgson for listening to my grumble about the sleeping situation 🤣

Congrats to everyone who took part last night, and biggest of hat tips to all of the volunteers and workers who tirelessly commit to helping those in our community have a restful sleep every night.
