Pre-flight thoughts (some controversial)
It’s 7:13am on a Tuesday morning as I wait for my flight. What can I tell you? What's been on my mind the last couple of weeks?
These things:
- With the lift of technology and ease of execution, all of your cost centres should now be value creators.
- More than ever, you need to create a responsive strategy, one that’s dynamic and provides a framework for decision-making. Look 12 months out and get agreement on the key levers, so you don’t need to micromanage a plan.
- YES, it is an act of public service if you interrupt someone today to keep a meeting on track (make it a KPI!). I’m astounded by the response and messages I’ve received about my article The Dark Arts of Interrupting Someone. I’ll drop it in the comments.
- Your business needs to figure out how to be more CONVENIENT/ easier to work with. That’s why I created Leanne on Demand my voice notes in-the-moment advisory service. People want your biz just in time, now, and in the way they want it. Stop imposing fixed offers. Learn to be responsive. Use AI to do the heavy lifting on personalisation and responsiveness.
- Data is always in but now, diagnosis and second opinions are freely available. My sausage dog recently had some tests for Cushing’s Disease. I got the vet to email me his figures, ran them through AI, asked what patterns it noticed, and answered questions about his symptoms.
So yeah, even my dog is using AI (and he's doing well)!
- You can still consult AI to find out how stakeholders feel about your idea or project… but you can’t use it to create buy-in or momentum. That still requires you.
- Vibe marketing is deteriorating my LinkedIn feed (sorry… but just because you can create content 24/7 with an army of AI agents, doesn’t mean you should).
- I need to buy a second portable screen so I’m not hovering over my laptop when working on the road. My posture is paying the price. Any recs? Send links.
- If your business isn’t using podcasts to train, connect, share stories, give updates, and build belonging… you’re behind. Start now. (Message me if you want help.)
