365 Ideas I Didn’t Let Die in My Notes App
In 2026, I'm saying goodbye to daily podcasting.
Here's a photo of my favourite place I recorded my show this year.
It was at a cafe called Rise and Grind in Kathmandu.
I recorded two episodes here, one before my hike to Everest Base Camp, and a reflection episode afterwards. Just LOVED walking here and watching Kathmandu wake up -- the buzz and sounds of the streets, the great coffee, spying a random monkey swinging across rooftops, it was just fabulous.
It was my 2025 challenge to podcast EVERY SINGLE DAY this year, and I'm one episode closer to ticking that off my list.
It has NOT been easy but it's been insanely rewarding.
What's the value of doing something on the daily?
Well... for me, the best thing about daily podcasting is that I was immediately able to share all the ideas in my 'Notes' app, that usually remain dormant there.
Now, I have 365 ideas/stories/anecdotes/reflections to fall back on when I need.....
...Like the time a bird shat on the roof of our car, but that led to taking it to a car wash and the next minute, we're proudly meeting a bunch of people and showing our car at a random car meet (today's episode).
or, responding to a listener question on why I pay for BOTH Loom and Descript tech tools
or, the time I bailed 📚Michael Bungay Stanier up and asked him to play GS in an imaginary netball team
(but, he also shares some brilliant journalling advice in this episode: https://podcast.leannehughes.com/21-building-a-journalling-habit-feat-michael-bungay-stanier/)
...or, what leaving a frypan in the sink taught me about responsibility...
...or, my favourite top 10 running routes in the world
..or, why I might break up with my barista (because they reinforce an old identity)
...why everyone should have a Japanese toilet
...and the 4 words I said to someone that triggered a collaborator (sorry!)
... or the Red Carpet Campout debrief in the car with Jade Miller
...or that $363 fine I got from using a David Warner image on my blog.
Anyway, I'm glad I did it. And the year just flew by. But now I have a live archive of things that went down in 2025.
Also?
I'm glad I'm stopping it...Because that energy/bandwidth can now be channelled over to the big 2026 book writing project with Wiley.
Thanks for being part of this experience!
For everyone who listened, reached out, asked a question, tuned in, THANK YOU!
But more than anything, it's nice to just to create for the sake of it, for the enjoyment, for the growth, and to not have an outcome/"grow an audience"/ROI metric.
-> What are you stopping in 2026?
