How I Made Calendar Space Without Asking

Happy Friday! I’m out here doing my Sunday 3-hour hike today.

Why?
Because the trail I usually train on will be jammed with ultrarunners this weekend, and I’d rather not spend three hours dodging hydration vests.

I’m currently training six days a week for Everest Base Camp and Lobuche Peak with the team from Experience Not Felt Possible.

That takes time, energy, and a bit of calendar tetris.

It’s taken me ages to get to a point where I can shift things around, without needing to reschedule back-to-back Zooms or ask for permission.

This isn’t a “work less” flex.

It’s just a different shape of work.

Thankfully, asynchronous tools like voice notes, Loom videos and collaborative docs mean many meetings can be eliminated.

Next week, I’m hosting a multi-day team offsite, so no doubt I’ll be deep in final prep mode come Sunday.

This is just the give and take of running your own business.

Also: after my hike today, I’ve got a heap of incredible comments to respond to on my recent LinkedIn post about AI recruiters. It sparked a bit of outrage (and I can see why).

-> What tools are you using to create more calendar space?

(Oh and big change… new fringe… same me)!
