The Hardest Thing I’ve Ever Done

Everest Base Camp = Unlocked 🔓

This has been the toughest thing I’ve ever done in my life.

I’ve never been on a multi day hike in my life, and decided to try my first in the Himalayas.

Crazy, right?!

Over the last 6 months I’ve had a trillion doubts. I hate heights. I hate “slumming” it. I like alone time.

Here’s what’s happened:

- I had a mini breakdown en-route earlier this week
- I’ve averaged 3 hrs sleep/night
- At one point, I actually wished I got a (light) injury so I’d have a legitimate excuse to quit
- Sleeping in tea houses with no heating, no lighting and using a squat toilet at 2am has been brutal
- Currently craving steak and salad, and a cold beer.

BUT

I’ve also gained perspective on so much bloody more:

- Trust in my ability to do hard things, even when my body demands rest (sometimes back home I’ll not follow through because I don’t feel like it… I’ve well and truly blown that mindset away)
- A reminder that you don’t need to be a certain type of person/identity to do certain types of things
- Get around groups of people who are better than you at the thing, they’ll push you to improve

And most importantly…

If it’s scary, LEAN IN TO IT!!

Commit to a scary goal with very little information.

You’ll figure it out and mobilise your resources to make it work (read about it, watch YouTube, hire a coach, talk to people who have done the thing).

Thanks to Matt Stewart for encouraging me to DREAM BIG and be part of this special invite-only Experience Not Felt Possible adventure.

This is your prompt right now to do something insanely out of your comfort zone.
